ASD Elementary
Elementary School Curriculum Overview

In the KG and elementary programs at American School Dhahran, teachers educate the whole child so he or she may thrive.

Starting in the early years, ASD provides a full standards-based American curriculum. It is innovative, student-centered and focuses on learner agency: it encourages students to take ownership of their learning by using critical thinking and feedback to independently make choices.

Kindergarten at ASD is a place where strong foundations are built for a lifetime of learning.  Students develop their verbal and social skills through exploration and teacher guidance, and learn to be compassionate toward one another.

Our elementary core curriculum subjects are math, English language arts, science, social studies, and PE. Along with the core subjects, our learners have regular sessions in music, visual arts, Arabic, regular visits to the school library and technology is embedded into every aspect of their day.

In elementary school, we work on building children's self-confidence and self-advocacy.  Experiential learning beyond the classroom through field trips keeps them engaged in learning in the wider world.
