Summary

ISG Jubail seeks a dynamic Substitute Teacher with a passion for giving students agency in their learning.  The ideal candidate will have experience inspiring students to become conscientious and compassionate thinkers and global citizens.  This person would demonstrate a commitment to a well-rounded and flexible classroom environment that encompasses interdisciplinary connections and authentic / relevant learning experiences.

Specifically with regards to the Substitute Teacher position, the successful candidate will:

  • Report to office upon arrival at school; request clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary.

  • Review with the designated person lesson plans, duties and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.

  • Implement lesson plans, maintaining as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom assigned.

  • Ensure the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.

  • Ensure that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.

  • Report to the School Nurse all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.

  • Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by administrator(s) in accordance with school policies, procedures and practices.

  • Leave the desks, books, and classroom in good order

Qualifications and Knowledge

The candidate must have:

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study. Please note, that non-Saudi applicants formal qualification must be sufficient enough to obtain a work permit / Ajeer in Saudi Arabia

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An advanced degree in a related field of study

  • Expertise in using Google Apps for Education

  • Proficiency in the use of the app Seesaw

  • Knowledge of Understanding by Design (UbD) principles and interdisciplinary planning

  • Experience in using the Lucy Calkins Readers and Writers workshop model

  • Understanding of conceptual based mathematics

  • Confidence in working with technology effectively in the classroom

  • Worked in a classrooms in an international context

  • Worked in close partnership with teachers to establish an appropriate child-centered learning environment

  • Participated fully in the preparation, planning and delivery of child-centered learning activities

  • Supported individuals and groups of children

  • Helped to ensure that the classroom environment is well-managed, properly ordered and effectively presented
