Summary
BSD is looking to employ an Art Teacher to join a dynamic department. The successful applicant will work within a team and be responsible for teaching FS1-KS2 students. The position is primarily responsible for managing and delivering art lessons according to the curriculum developed by the Head of Arts. BSD welcomes applicants that are qualified and have teaching experience. At BSD The Arts are highly regarded and therefore the successful applicant will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of teaching and learning within the department.
Position Duties
The successful candidate will be able to effectively:
- Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Inspire and instill a love for art.
- Provide meaningful feedback on progress and next steps.
- Ensure cross-curricular links between Art and other subjects taught to provide a holistic education.
- Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors and administrators to discuss development.
- Maintain a safe learning environment for students at all times.
- Play a full part in the extra-curricular activities of the Arts Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Headteacher or Principal.
Qualifications and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have:
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a University degree in the subject area of employment.
- Current teacher certification in the required subject area. Certification should be from a recognised and nationally-recognised institution.
- Police clearance to demonstrate suitability of applicant to work with children and in a school environment.
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience:
- Prior experience as an Art Teacher.
- Proficient with G Suite/Microsoft Office.

- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Good interpersonal skills in interacting with students, parents and colleagues.
