On a joyous and pride-filled evening, the American School Dhahran (ASD) celebrated the graduation of 159 outstanding students. The ceremony, a significant milestone in the lives of our graduates, was marked by heartfelt speeches, shared memories and a collective sense of accomplishment.
The atmosphere was charged with excitement and anticipation as families, friends and faculty waited to honor the achievements of our graduates.
The event began with a warm welcome from ISG Superintendent, Dr. Michael Mack, who highlighted the journey filled with choices our graduates will have to make. He emphasized the importance of being kind and compassionate and remembering the legacy that they want to leave behind with their interactions along the way.
ASD’s principal, Ronnie Caldwell, followed by speaking to the graduates on some of the struggles that come with moving away from their familiar surroundings. He reminded them that these struggles are normal and they will pass.
The highlight of the evening was the inspiring speeches delivered by the valedictorian, salutatorian and IB distinguished graduate. Their speeches were filled with gratitude and optimism and they thanked the teachers, parents and peers who had supported them along the way. The graduates spoke about the power of community and the lessons learned both inside and outside the classroom, urging their fellow graduates to carry these values forward into the next chapter of their lives.
The ASD valedictorian spoke eloquently about what made ASD special: the community of students and teachers he has known since a young age and the wonderful memories he made along the way.
Following, our ASD salutatorian took to the stage with a thoughtful speech on 10 lessons learned from the “How to Train Your Dragon” book series.
Next came a speech from the ASD International Baccalaureate (IB) distinguished graduate. She shared her unique perspective on the ability to pivot on your path and make new choices as opportunities arise or situations change.
The graduation ceremony was not just a formal event but a celebration of the collective achievements of the ASD community. The pride and joy were palpable as each student walked across the stage to receive their diploma, symbolizing the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.
The evening concluded with a sense of unity and hope for the future. As the graduates tossed their caps into the air, cheers filled the gymnasium. American School Dhahran is incredibly proud of the Class of 2024 and looks forward to seeing the incredible impact they will undoubtedly make in the world.
Congratulations to all our graduates! Your journey is just beginning, and the future is bright.
