Seven ASD Students Participate in AMIS European Honor Band

Seven high school students from American School Dhahran participated in the 2025 Association of Music in International Schools (AMIS) European Honor Band, hosted by Frankfurt International School in Frankfurt, Germany.

These talented musicians, playing instruments including flute, clarinet, trombone, tuba and baritone saxophone, successfully auditioned for the prestigious ensemble after dedicated work over the summer and the early part of the school year.

The students attended the festival and engaged in three days of intensive rehearsals alongside peers from 22 other international schools. Their efforts culminated in a festival concert under the direction of Dr. Dominic Talanca. The program featured the following musical selections: "Origin" by Cait Nishimura, "Bridges" by Katahj Copley, "TuTued Toucan Can-Can" by Erika Svanoe, "Our Cast Aways" by Julie Giroux, "Into the Storm" by Robert W. Smith, and "Let Me Be Frank With You" by John Mackey.

This marks the third year of participation for ASD in the AMIS European Honor Band, a continuing success for the school's music program and its students. The school expresses its gratitude to ASD music teacher Mr. Ned Fortescue for his continued support and guidance of the students.
