Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council: Empowering Students Through Leadership and Feedback

The recent meeting of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC), which included students from ISG schools, was a significant event focused on encouraging student leadership and feedback-driven improvements in our school communities. We are especially proud that students from American School Dhahran (ASD) were actively involved in this important meeting, representing our school and contributing valuable insights.

The session kicked off with a review of leadership principles and the importance of a positive school culture, followed by a look at student action plans aimed at improving school life. A standout activity of the meeting was a hands-on exercise in survey revision and data analysis. Students worked in teams to revise a sample survey and analyze the collected data. This activity gave students the opportunity to learn how to design effective surveys and interpret data, skills that are critical in making data-driven decisions to enhance their schools.

Another important aspect of the meeting involved an anonymous feedback activity, where students wrote their thoughts and suggestions on notes. These notes were then categorized and discussed, providing valuable insights into the concerns and ideas of their peers. This exercise encouraged open dialogue and helped students better understand the diverse experiences and perspectives within their school community.

The meeting concluded with a recognition ceremony where certificates were awarded to participants for their active contributions. This session underscored the vital role students play in shaping the educational experience and highlighted how feedback collection and analysis can lead to meaningful improvements. By engaging in these activities, the SSAC empowers students to take leadership in enhancing their school communities.

We are proud of the ASD students who participated in this event, representing our school alongside their peers from other ISG schools. Their commitment to leadership, teamwork and constructive feedback is helping shape a better, more inclusive educational environment for all.
