High School Choir and Band Concert Delights Audience with Diverse Performances

The American School Dhahran (ASD) high school choir and band concert, held on Monday, May 6, was a spectacular showcase of musical talent and dedication.

The evening began with performances by the high school choirs, featuring 38 students who sang two songs each in their separate ensembles. They then united for final selections, including the stirring "What Was I Made For" from the acclaimed "Barbie" movie soundtrack. The choirs concluded their portion of the concert with a fantastic rendition of Jamiroquai's 1996 hit, "Virtual Insanity." A special moment of recognition was reserved for eight seniors who were thanked for their invaluable contributions to the choral music program during their time at ASD.

Following the choirs, the high school concert band, comprising 27 students, delivered a dynamic performance of five diverse selections. From Korean Folk Songs to themes from popular TV shows like "Stranger Things," the band's precision and progress since their winter concert were evident, reflecting their diligent preparation and hard work.

Closing the concert with flair, the high school jazz band presented five selections highlighted by captivating solos from various members. Notably, they paid tribute to Mr. Caldwell by playing “Careless Whispers”,  expressing gratitude for his unwavering support of the music and arts departments throughout his tenure at ASD. Six graduating seniors were also acknowledged for their significant contributions to the instrumental music program.

The concert concluded on a high note, with the Latin tune "Mas Que Nada," leaving the audience in awe of the students' musical prowess and dedication.

Congratulations to Mr. Ned Fortescue and all our high school music students for delivering an unforgettable concert! Your commitment and talent have truly shone through, making this event a remarkable success. Here's to continued musical achievements and many more memorable performances in the future!
