ASD Students Excel in the 2024 AP and IB Exams

Advanced Placement Results

We are proud to share the exceptional achievements of our ASD students in this year’s Advanced Placement (AP) exams. At ASD, we offer a range of AP courses designed to challenge our students with college-level material and prepare them for academic success beyond high school. The dedication of our students and teachers is clearly reflected in the results.
This year, 86% of ASD students scored a 3 or above on their AP exams, placing us well above the national average of 66%.

ASD has seen a rise in the number of students participating in the AP program and the number of exams taken over the past year. The number of AP exams taken rose from 621 last year to 727 this year—an increase of 17%. This growth underscores our commitment to providing our students with challenging academic opportunities and preparing them for their future endeavors. We are very proud at ASD for being able to maintain such a high level of success despite the increase in exam participation.

International Baccalaureate Results

We are delighted to announce the impressive achievements of our ASD students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. American School Dhahran offers a comprehensive IB curriculum that challenges students with college-level coursework over two years. The IB Diploma Programme is recognized globally for its rigor, and we are proud to see our students excel in this demanding academic environment.

This year, 88% of our ASD students who pursued the IB Diploma successfully earned their diploma, a testament to their hard work and dedication. The average combined IB score for ASD students was 32 out of a possible 45 points, which is well above the global average of 30 points. Additionally, we are thrilled to celebrate the exceptional achievement of one ASD student who earned an impressive 42 points, placing them among the top IB candidates worldwide.

These results highlight the strength of our IB program at ASD and the resilience of our students, who have risen to the challenge of this rigorous curriculum. The IB Diploma is not only a significant academic accomplishment but also a valuable credential that opens doors to top universities around the world.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our AP and IB students, their families and our dedicated faculty for their incredible effort and success this year. Their efforts have ensured that ASD continues to be a leader in academic excellence.
