ASD Effect Coffeehouse Talent Show

On Monday, December 11, the Effect Club at American School Dhahran held a fun and engaging talent show, with students and teachers participating to showcase their talents in vocals, piano, trombone and the ukulele.

Established over three decades ago, Effect Club stands as ASD’s premier environmental awareness organization, dedicated to cultivating a sense of responsibility toward our planet among ASD students. The Effect Club’s motto is “Compassion for self, compassion for others, compassion for the Earth.”

Club members conduct presentations and activities, fostering awareness about sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.  The programs encompass recycling initiatives, greening and farming projects and educational sessions on planting and nurturing plants. Regular campus clean-ups and beach cleaning initiatives, recognized by local newspapers, underline our commitment to tangible environmental impact.  Last year, the club extended their efforts to Khobar beach, and members engaged in alumni events and special education aid programs in collaboration with Aramco.

Initially affiliated with National Geographic, Effect Club’s activities support organizations involved in environmental protection activities, contributing to organizations that protect pets and animals or focus on ocean cleanup like Team Seas. This is done through student-led environmental presentations and entertaining performances by staff and students.  This year’s Winter Coffee House and Talent Show will contribute to greening ASD, with plans for another Coffee House event in the spring.

Thanks to Ms. Shaila Koya in ASD for her passion and dedication to the Effect Club.  Her efforts continuously inspire our students to care for our planet and environment.
