American School Dhahran is excited to share the memorable experience of fifty-two 4th and 5th grade students who recently embarked on their first-ever trip to the Khorfakkan Resort in Sharjah. Led by Northstar, an outdoor education company, the trip gave students the chance to explore nature, build teamwork skills, and create lasting memories.
Over four action-packed days, students and their chaperones participated in a wide range of exciting team-building activities. The group worked together to construct a raft and keep it afloat, built trebuchets to launch wet sponges, and braved the chilly ocean waters to snorkel. During their underwater adventures, they had the opportunity to discover marine life and even spot turtles.
One of the most unforgettable parts of the trip was the wilderness survival experience. Students learned essential survival skills, such as descaling and gutting fish, using a Ferro rod to build a fire, and cooking their own catch. The experience empowered students to gain confidence and a deeper appreciation for the outdoors.
A lively quiz night brought plenty of laughter as students competed against teachers in a fun and friendly challenge. The adventure wrapped up with a campfire, where everyone enjoyed roasting marshmallows, singing songs, and dancing under the stars.
The trip was such a success, and the students had an unforgettable time. Parents were able to stay connected through regular updates and pictures, sharing in the excitement from afar.
We are so proud of our students for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and spirit of adventure!
