Our recent Spelling Bee was a buzzing success! Our ISG Dammam middle school students showcased their vocabulary and spelling skills after weeks of practice and preparation.
This week, 21 students participated in the semi-final round of the Middle School Spelling Bee. The competition started with all students from grades 6-8 participating in the preliminary and quarter final rounds in February and March, each class spelling grade level-appropriate words.
During the semi-finals, they gathered in the MPR to challenge themselves to spell words including encircle, accumulate, and grievance. Students were provided with word lists to study in advance and it was evident in the competition that the students in the semi-final round had prepared and studied their lists! The masterful spellers did an incredible job using their root word knowledge combined with their understanding of common spelling words, recognition of prefixes and suffixes and their practice writing helped our students throughout the competition.
Eight finalists will be vying for the title of the Middle School Spelling Champion next month, and we can't wait to see what challenging words they spell next! The event was filled with excitement, friendly competition and a shared love for words.
Congratulations to all our participants for their hard work and enthusiasm!
