BSD Displays Exceptional Performance at BSME U15 Games in Qatar

The BSME U15 tournament took place in Qatar, where 25 BSD students proudly represented the school, competing against larger British schools in the Middle East. The boys participated in volleyball, football and athletics, while the girls competed in netball, football and athletics. In football, the boys grew in strength game by game and ended the tournament on a 1-0 victory against Muscat, whilst the girls triumphed 3-0 against them conceding only 2 goals in the tournament. The girls continued their strong performance in netball, finishing with a win against a fellow Saudi British school and the boys started exceptionally well in volleyball, winning their opening matches making a name for themselves.

In athletics, our students achieved remarkable success. The boys secured podium finishes, winning gold in the 100m, 200m, high jump and shot put, as well as silver in the long jump. Several girls placed in the top half of the table across various events, earning valuable points for the team. The boys’ team finished an impressive second overall in athletics, with our athletics captain being named "Male Athlete of the Day" with his 3 gold medals.

This was an incredible experience for our athletes, where they showcased outstanding sportsmanship, excelled in their sports and competed against peers from across the Middle East. BSD performed exceptionally well against schools more than twice our size, finishing in a commendable 9th place overall.

A huge thank you to coaches Jennifer Gilbert, Jerry Flynn, Rosie Hepworth and Tobias Haslam for their dedication and support on this trip.
