Learning with a Buddy: Inspiring Student Led Exploration

Middle school students had the opportunity to be the teacher this week as they worked to learn with a buddy.  They were tasked with teaching different lessons to their peers in English, science and social studies.

In small groups, students were given a concept to teach and the challenge to help their peers understand and demonstrate their learning in a supportive and collaborative environment.  The ‘teachers’ were encouraged to ask their peers questions and it was a wonderful experience for both those teaching and those learning.

Students were engaged and excited to be in a learning environment led by their peers and we look forward to more opportunities for students to not just listen, but to lead in the learning environment.
