U19 Boys Volleyball Team Wins SAIKAC Tournament

This season the BSD U19 boys team’s hard work over the years culminated in a brilliant final game against ASD where they emerged victorious as 2024 SAIKAC champions.

Throughout the entire SAIKAC tournament, held in Jeddah, the team did not lose a single game- a testament to their dedication to each other, their coach and the game. These boys began playing together in U16 volleyball and it has been a joy to see their journey go from trial and error to success.

This team has gone through highs and lows over the years and this was a fitting end to what coach Rosie calls her ‘Dream Team’ as the older boys graduate this year; and what a legacy they leave behind! A team that has worked on and off the court, giving back to other teams at BSD and prioritising sportsmanship, resilience and dedication to sports.

A quote from Mr Flynn, the co-coach for the tournament: ‘Maybe it was a shock result for some, but for the many neutrals there this was an extremely well-deserved win, showing the grit, determination and focused mindset of this excellent U19 team!’

British School Dhahran would like to thank coach Rosie, coach Kern and coach Flynn for their support this season.

The U19 girls team also participated in the SAIKAC tournament this year. Our players' ability to adapt continuously during a crucial game is something we are extremely proud of. As coaches, it is our responsibility to keep players "pushed" to the limit of their abilities.

BSD entered two U19 girls teams into the ISG Jamboree this year and continued to refine their skills over the season to enter one team into SAIKAC. The girls play with the attitude that every serve, pass, position and hit is an opportunity to win. We admired them during the games that any loss of serve/hit gives motivation for our players to work harder. They never gave up; just because they haven’t seen progress doesn’t mean they haven’t improved. They didn’t allow discouraging thoughts to get in their way.

Continue to stay positive, motivated and emphasise teamwork. Again, we are so proud of you all. Keep it up until the next volleyball season, Lionesses.
