Around 40 BSD Duke of Edinburgh students recently returned from a memorable Practice Expedition, camping at the scenic Thumb Rock between Jubail and Riyadh. After weeks of preparing on campus, honing essential survival skills such as pitching tents, navigating routes and outdoor cooking, the students were eager to put their knowledge to the test in a real camping environment. The adventure gave them a chance to apply their skills and build resilience, all while enjoying the natural beauty and bonding with classmates.
During their time at Thumb Rock, the students worked in teams to set up camp, cook meals over portable stoves and tackle various challenges that required problem-solving and cooperation. The experience was not only a practical application of their survival skills but also a great boost to their confidence and teamwork abilities. The expedition allowed students to grow as individuals while strengthening their friendships and sense of adventure, making it an unforgettable part of their Duke of Edinburgh journey.
