During the fall break, seventeen students from ISG Dammam traveled to Athens, Greece to attend a Model United Nations Conference held at the Campion International School.
During the MUN conference, students role play as different countries, confronting different political, social, economic and environmental challenges. Students work together to build consensus and coalitions and pass resolutions to solve aspects of these challenging issues.
MUN conferences provide students with the opportunity to engage through dialogue with their peers from around the world on complicated issues, imagining what they could do to confront some of the greatest challenges of our day. During the two day conference, students engaged with peers from around Greece, Spain, Germany and England.
After the two days of conference, students were fortunate to participate in a few days of touring and sightseeing around Greece, including visiting the Acropolis and museum, the Roman Agora and other ancient Greek ruins. Students also enjoyed a food tour of Athens to create personal understanding of the local food culture as well.
Accompanied by staff from ISG Dammam, students were delighted to have the opportunity to explore a part of the world that is so entrenched in the history, governance structure and culture of our global community and what they have studied throughout their time as ISG students. The trip reinforced and engaged the students through making connections with their previous learning from the classroom along with allowing them to exercise independence within the structure of an outside the classroom learning opportunity.
