TEDx at ISG Dammam

The inaugural TEDxYouth@ISGDammam event took place on October 10, 2024, showcasing the dynamic voices of students from grades 7 to 12 at ISG Dammam. Organized by Ms. Nadia Fatima Iqbal and our Activity Coordinator Ms. Betsey Hawkins, this event marked a significant milestone for students at ISG Dammam.

Students prepared and delivered speeches on such diverse topics as grit, the influence of AI in education, the impact of social media on relationships, how to prioritize mental health in the information age and the art of procrastination.  The training and curation process for these talks was expertly guided by Ms. Nadia, a dedicated middle school English teacher and Debate Club sponsor. Her months of commitment empowered students to confidently articulate their innovative ideas.

The event was made even more engaging by the hosting team of students and support staff who designed posters, decorated the auditorium, ran the slideshow and provided invaluable real-life support for this type of production.  The theme for TEDxYouth@ISGDammam was "Imagine the Impossible—Daring to Dream Beyond the Limits," which resonated deeply with both speakers and attendees.

The audience was captivated by the presentations, applauding the students for their efforts in this first TEDx event. Parents, peers and siblings expressed immense pride in the students’ performances, highlighting the personal growth and confidence gained through participation beyond the topic they chose to speak about.

We were also proud to have been featured in Arab News. This inaugural TEDxYouth@ISGDammam fostered a culture of going beyond your limitations, and critical thinking within the ISG Dammam community. With such a successful first event, we hope for many more inspiring TEDx events in the future.
