Job Description
ISG Jubail seeks a dynamic Middle and High School Science departmental assistant with a passion for supporting teachers and students in a range of science tasks across the middle and high school science classes and laboratories. This person would demonstrate a commitment to a well-rounded and flexible science program that encompasses lab experiences, interdisciplinary connections, literacy, and authentic/relevant learning experiences. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the sciences and possess quality interpersonal, organizational, and resource management skills. ISG Jubail has a strong sense of community. Specifically with regards to supporting the science program, the successful candidate will be able to effectively:
- Successfully collaborate with the MSHS science team members
- Assist in supervising students engaged in lab/class work
- Organize, inventory, and maintain departmental resources
- Assist in the set-up and take-down of science labs across all science courses and grade levels, including cleaning/sanitizing lab equipment
- Organize and communicate local science order needs and support the annual international ordering process, update records and paperwork regularly
- Understand scientific concepts and support instruction when/where applicable
- Create an environment where students passionately exercise agency in pursuing science
- Be a champion for science learning, inquiry, and engagement
The candidate must have:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
The ideal candidate will have:
- Deep content knowledge in science
- Willingness to learn and grow with the departmental team and through professional development
- Knowledge of technology to support science instruction
- Experience and/or certification/licensure to teach science
- An advanced degree in a related field of study
- Knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience
- Running experiments and labs in a multitude of science contexts
- Teaching science in an international context
- Organizing resources and science equipment
- Collaborating in a professional setting with large and small groups of colleagues
- Using the Google Suite and all-around good general computer skills
- With chemicals and safely storing/disposing of hazardous chemicals
