The position is primarily responsible for managing and delivering music lessons according to the curriculum developed by the Head of Music.

DBGS welcomes applicants that are qualified and have class teaching experience including Piano (at least Grade 3) or guitar and second instrument (violin would be an advantage).


Job Duties

The successful applicants will be able to effectively:

  • Demonstrate commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection)
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations
  • Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors and administrators to discuss development
  • Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks
  • Maintain a safe learning environment for students at all times
  • Play a full part in the extra-curricular activities of the Music Department
  • Teach one-to-one instrumental lessons
Qualifications and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
  • Proficient in playing one or more instruments, including being able to accompany students playing/singing
Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:


  • Prior experience as a Music Teacher (primary experience preferred)
  • Experience with MS Office/Excel/Google docs
  • Experience with GarageBand on the Apple platform
  • Knowledge of Sibelius an advantage
