The position is primarily responsible for managing and delivering music lessons according to the lesson plans developed by the Head of Music. DBGS welcomes applicants that are qualified and have teaching experience including Piano (at least Grade 3) and second instrument (Brass would be an advantage).

Job Duties

The successful applicants will be able to effectively:

  • Demonstrate commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection)

  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests

  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations

  • Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems

  • Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks

  • Maintain a safe learning environment for students at all times

  • Play a full part in the extra-curricular activities of the Music Department

  • Teach one-to-one instrumental lessons

Qualifications and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study

  • Proficient in playing one or more instruments

Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:


  • Prior experience as a Music Teacher in both primary and senior school

  • Experience with MS Office/Excel/Google docs

  • Experience with Sibelius and Garageband


  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral

  • Works well with people and as a team

  • Exhibit a positive attitude

  • Highly developed organizational skills

  • Customer service orientation & negotiation skills

  • High degree of accuracy & attention to details

  • Maturity to handle a range of situations

  • An ability to work under pressure

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Excellent Computer literacy/systems skills – G Suite/Microsoft Office
