The Learning Support Teacher co-plans and co-teaches with homeroom teachers to implement effective teaching strategies to address the needs of all students.

Learning Support Teachers work with two grade levels (six classrooms) to collect and analyze students data before delivering targeted instruction.   

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be able to effectively:

  • Demonstrate commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection)

  • Work in partnership with classroom teachers to collaboratively plan and deliver lessons to small groups or individual students
  • Participate in Student Success meetings

  • Prepare and manage Student Success plans based on identified student needs

  • Coach and support classroom teachers in the implementation of personalized learning practices

  • Participate in parent meetings, parent teacher interviews, and school meetings as required

  • Model the school values at all times

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal

Qualifications and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
  • Certification as a teacher

  • Qualifications in the area of English Language Learners and/or Special Education


Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:


  • Learning Support (English Language Learners and/or Special Education)

  • General education K-8

  • Preparing and managing Student Success Plans (IEP)

  • Co-Planning and Co-Teaching


  • A demonstrated ability to teach groups of students

  • Effective written, oral, and spoken English communication

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Proficient use of Google for Education
