We are looking for a DT Teacher to join a dynamic Arts department. The successful applicant will work within a team and be responsible for teaching KS3/4, IGCSE programme for students in KS4. The position is primarily responsible for managing and delivering DT lessons according to the curriculum developed by the school. BSD welcomes applicants that are qualified and have class teaching experience.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be able to effectively:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection)
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations
  • Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors and administrators to discuss development
  • Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks
  • Maintain a safe learning environment for students at all times
  • Play a full part in the extra-curricular activities of the Arts Department
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Headteacher or Principal
Qualifications and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of a University degree in the subject area of employment
  • Current teacher certification in the required subject area. Certification should be from a recognised and nationally-recognised institution
  • Police clearance to demonstrate suitability of applicant to work with children and in a school environment
Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:


  • Prior experience as a DT Teacher (IGCSE/A level experience preferred)
  • Experience with G Suite/Microsoft Office


  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Good interpersonal skills in interacting with students, parents and colleagues
  • Ability to supervise students in non-classroom settings.
