Summary

International Schools Group, Saudi Arabia (ISG) seeks an Assistant Principal for Dammam High School. 
The High School Assistant Principal will be asked to provide educational leadership and administrative direction to represent and support the educational program for all stakeholder groups: students, staff, parents, and community.
 

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be able to effectively:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection)

Lead the high school division of ISG Dammam including everything that entails:

Staff

  • Build a strong, collaborative working environment within the high school staff

  • Work collaboratively with all staff and faculty members

  • Supervise and evaluate school personnel as determined by the Head of School

  • Implement the District’s Human Resource Policies

  • Recommend staff for employment, leadership opportunities, non-renewal, or termination

Students

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive, rigorous, American curriculum academic program

  • Coordinate the development of the building schedule, assigning teachers and students to appropriate classes

  • Develop and maintain a strong, extra-curricular program

  • Oversee support services for students

  • Document and appropriately handle student discipline

Parents

  • Communicate clearly and regularly to keep parents informed of school activities and objectives

  • Engage constructively with parents to get the best results from each student

  • Revise and post documents such as the Handbook and Course Catalog to keep students and families informed of school policies and the educational program 

  • Host parent forums to prepare students and families for the college application process

Administrative

  • Represent the school with all stakeholder groups: students, staff, parents, and community

  • Keep the Head of School regularly informed regarding areas of responsibility

  • Implement current, research-based, effective practices

  • Assist the Head of School with direct responsibility for the management, organization, and supervision of all school operations

  • Make recommendations for specific changes and long range plans for the instructional program

  • Keep abreast of current educational research, trends, and practices

  • Assist the Head of School to develop long range fiscal plans and strategies

  • Keep all stakeholders informed of activities, needs, and successes of the school

  • Keep the Head of School informed of student and staff concerns, as well as concerns about students and staff

  • Maintain an “open door” for staff and students. Ensure confidentiality when addressing issues

  • Be a visible presence throughout the school

  • Undertake whatever tasks and timings may be needed to ensure the continual well-being of the organisation, as perceived by the Head of School and in cooperation with the ISG Superintendent

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School

Qualifications and Knowledge

The successful candidate will have:

  • Masters or Advanced Degree in school leadership

  • Knowledge of current trends, educational research and resources

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will have:  

Experience

  • Previous senior leadership experience and knowledge of delivering a program according to the precepts of the U.S. Common Core State Standards, but within an international context

Skills

  • Excellent command of English; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Maturity to handle a range of situations

  • Loyalty and a high level of confidentiality

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proven track record in collaboratively leading change and school improvement initiatives
