New Campus 2022

Dear Parents,

I am happy to announce that six new competitions have been introduced in our schools.  Thanks goes to our amazing teachers who are always looking for fun and challenging opportunities for our students.  Please encourage your child to enquire and participate in these competitions for their academic and social benefits. You can contact the teacher for more information.

While this is just a start, we hope to introduce more competitive opportunities for our students in the next few months.

Yesterday, ISG held a ‘Farewell to the Old Dhahran Campus’ dinner.  This event was postponed several times due to Covid, however I am glad we were finally able to make it happen.  There is no doubt in my mind that the old campus holds a special place in all our hearts.  Our old campus was special because our community of students, parents, teachers and staff made it special. The event was attended by the U.S. Consul General and some members of the Board of Trustees.

Earlier in the school year, we interviewed some of our ASD and BSD students to capture their impressions of the new campus. It was interesting to see the new campus from their eyes and the range of perspectives that they have. The one thing that did stand out was how special the old campus was to everyone. I know with time we will all forge new memories and attachments to our new home. You can watch some of their responses below.

This week we were delighted to welcome Dr. Beatrice Cameron, Regional Education Officer at the Office of Overseas Schools, US Department of State. During her visit, she met with the ISG Board Chair, Chris Boyett, the Principal at ASD, Ronnie Caldwell, and our Vice Principals and counselors.  Each year ISG receives a grant from the US State Department, which funds some of our teaching and learning and professional development activities.

BSD and SVS are currently preparing for a British School Overseas (BSO) inspection. This is a voluntary inspection conducted every three years to ensure our schools provide our students with the skills and qualifications that measure up against the standards of independent schools in England.

This is a reminder that Fall break starts today and our schools will be closed between October 21-29. Classes will resume on October 30, 2022.  I wish you all a safe and restful vacation.

Best wishes,

Michael P. Mack
