2024 will certainly be a year to remember for the U14 boys volleyball squad!
From the outset we had a large group of players showing commitment and dedication to training and from this we managed to put out not two, but three competitive teams for the ISG Jamboree which is something we have never managed to do in the past and just shows how strong this group is.
At SAIKAC we were delighted to see our B-Team, made up of many younger players, challenge the very best teams in the tournament and work their way to become Plate Finalists. They showed talent and heart throughout the tournament and we couldn't be prouder!
The U14 boys A-Team really stepped up at SAIKAC showing their heart and strength of character to 'dig deep' in some very close games to come out of the group stages with a 100% record and having not lost a single set.
Seeded No.2 going into the knockout stages, the team played with great skill and composure to progress to the final where we faced a very good team from Udailiyah. A thrilling final saw us narrowly lose the first set by 2 points, before fighting back in the second to win it by 2.
In the final third set, the pendulum swung back and forth with both teams looking like they could take victory. However this outstanding BSD team hung on to win the decisive set 15-13 with the final point seeing the ball breathtakingly roll along the net before dropping to give us victory and the title of SAIKAC Champions!
A deserved win to cap an outstanding season for the U14 Boys Volleyball Squad. Congratulations to each and every member of all squads!
British School Dhahran would like to thank coach Haslam and coach Nourhan for their support and effort this season.
U14 Girls Volleyball Team
This season, it was inspiring to see over 30 girls try out for the U14 volleyball teams. The A team entered the competition with confidence, having gone undefeated in ISG's Jamboree. We had three teams enter into Jamboree which is fantastic to see the sport continue to grow within the school.
In SAIKAC both the A and B teams represented BSD with outstanding athleticism and sportsmanship. Both teams played their hearts out and seeded top 2 in their pools on the first day. In an exciting twist, they faced each other in the third-place match of the championship on the second day, with the A team winning a gripping three-set game. These results highlight the incredible depth of talent at BSD, with both teams finishing in the top four in the Eastern Province.
We are excited to build on this success next season! Congratulations to all players involved, what an incredible season!
British School Dhahran would like to thank coach Gilbert and coach Sheridan for their efforts in training and supporting the team.
