Dear Parents,
ISG’s Teaching and Learning Office organized ASD and BSD's Career Fair this year. They welcomed 49 professionals who spoke to 800 students about 20 different career fields, including medicine, engineering, law, architecture, education, business, arts and entertainment, social services, green energy and much more. Panel discussions on the fields of accounting and finance, medicine and engineering were also held. Students listened to the professionals speak about their career paths and had the opportunity to ask them questions directly. ISG would like to thank and acknowledge participant businesses and our sponsor, the Eastern Province American Chamber of Commerce, whose involvement was instrumental in the success of this event.
ISG school counselors meet regularly to share experiences and best practices allowing our students to benefit from the combined knowledge and experiences of this group of professionals. Some of the topics they discuss in their meetings include child protection protocols and documentation, student support services, learning support, helping students navigate stress and supporting senior students with their university search and applications. Our counselors across the district play an important role in our students’ lives and we are grateful for their dedication and commitment.
In partnership with the British Council, BSD hosted the annual Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards for the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, January 31. The event welcomed 250 people and celebrated not only our BSD award winners but also winners from other British schools in the area. Congratulations to all our students, parents and teachers on these remarkable achievements.
The SAIKAC U16 Football Tournament last weekend consisted of 27 boys and girls teams and 103 games were played over two days, making it the largest SAIKAC football tournament ever hosted. Teams came from around the Kingdom to compete in a fantastic tournament. It was a tight battle for the championships on both the girls and boys side of the tournament with a number of games going into extra time and then being settled on penalties. Having three ISG teams make the final of a national SAIKAC U16 football tournament shows the depth of talent we have in our schools and how committed the coaches are to developing that talent.
The Udhailiyah Cross Country Invitational also took place last Saturday. ASD, BSD, ISG Dammam and ISG Jubail were represented. Our students completed 3k and 5k races with many podium finishes.
BSD's Year 3 and Year 4 put on a wonderful performance last week called Pirates of the Curry Bean. It was great to see our talented young artists on stage again. Congratulations to all our students, athletes, teachers and parents on these wonderful achievements.
ISG Jubail will be hosting a book fair starting February 5. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to browse a new selection of books. Please speak with your children about what they are interested in reading and encourage them to purchase a book they are excited about.
I am pleased to announce that ISG will be holding an ISG Alumni Reunion in London on May 9, 2023. Please share this information with ISG graduates and previous staff in your circle. More details will follow.
Best wishes,
Michael P. Mack
