Dear Parents,
This week we asked some of our talented artists in Grade 10 and Year 11 about why art is important to them and how they prioritize creative time during their day. Please click here to see what they had to say.
International Day is the biggest and most anticipated celebration at ASD and BSD for good reason. With performances, parades, music and a variety of different cuisines to try it provides a day filled with culture and experience. I would like to thank the Parent Teacher Groups in ASD and BSD, the parent community and the Operations team for their support and efforts in making International Day a success. Please watch a recap of the day.
On World Read Aloud Day schools take time to celebrate and honor the power of reading and sharing stories and expand the scope of global literacy. At ISG Dammam this event saw parents reading to students in their classrooms, older students reading to younger classes and everyone reading together in the field at the end of the day.
Year 3 in Sara Village School celebrated National Storytelling Week in an assembly and performed the story of Fantastic Mr. Fox. These young actors were fantastic themselves considering it was their first time on stage.
Last week, with the help of parents and staff, 150 students from BSD’s Year 5 and Year 6 put on a production called Rock Bottom. This was their first play since virtual school and everyone noticed the growth in the children’s confidence especially when speaking in front of a large crowd. Along with growing their confidence, teachers noticed the growth in the children’s leadership, kindness, creativity, self-regulation, humility, humor and their appreciation of all things beautiful.
During their weekly assemblies, ISG Jubail students often put on musical performances. It’s inspiring to see our students motivated and keen on developing their skills and sharing their talent with their school.
Congratulations to the ASD U14 boys! Both football teams made the championship bracket and ASD are SAIKAC champions! BSD U14 Girls B team became Plate champions of SAIKAC 2023. Well done to all players and our U16 players who were inspiring role model coaches.
The U16 Badminton Tournament was an inspiring event that showed the skill and determination of all our players. While our students competed to win they also displayed incredible sportsmanship and camaraderie among their competitors. It was a thrilling, fun and successful event. Congratulations to the BSD Girls for winning Gold, ASD Girls for winning Silver and the ISG Dammam Boys for winning Bronze.
ISG Jubail is having their annual Spring Spectacular on Saturday, February 11. There will be a live band, games, food booths, bounce castles and lots of activities for the ISG Jubail families.
A reminder that the ASD Elementary and Middle School House Cup is scheduled for February 14. This is a much anticipated event at ASD where students are divided into Houses: Blue (Oryx), White (Camel), Green (Falcon) and Gold (Dolphin), and will compete in their house colors for the championship.
On February 16, ISG Dammam will hold their 9th annual carnival, an event planned by the students and supported by their teachers. It promises to be a day filled with fun and family activities: international dances, musical entertainment, haunted house, color festival, face painting and more.
I would like to remind you that February 22 is a scheduled holiday in Saudi Arabia to celebrate Founding Day. Schools will be closed on February 23 to be aligned with other schools in the Kingdom. Also, Spring break across all our ISG Schools will be between February 24-March 4. Classes will resume on March 5, 2023.
Best wishes,
Michael P. Mack
