ISG Jubail School Council: Building a Stronger Community Together

On November 6, ISG Jubail held its first School Council meeting, marking the beginning of a new initiative across all ISG schools. The School Council, composed of parent volunteers nominated by fellow parents, aims to enhance the school experience for everyone in the ISG Jubail community. The council will meet four times a year with the Principal, Mrs. Dugan, and the Vice Principal, Mrs. Cays, to explore opportunities for school improvement.

The inaugural meeting began with introductions and an overview of key topics, including the MSA accreditation process, strategic goals and alignment with the school’s core values and graduate profile. Members reviewed various data points, including student and staff surveys, MAP reading scores for elementary students and SAT data for high school students.

A significant portion of the discussion centered on nurturing compassionate action and growth mindset, supporting a culture of kindness and respect across the school. Parents shared positive feedback about the inclusive, international atmosphere at ISG Jubail, where students feel connected and valued regardless of their cultural background.

Parents appreciated the school’s emphasis on teaching critical thinking, personal responsibility and integrity. They also highlighted the positive influence of counselors at ISG Jubail. They shared that their children often repeat encouraging phrases at home learned from counselors, reflecting the valuable role they play in supporting students’ emotional and social growth. Parents appreciate how these positive messages help reinforce the school’s focus on building character and promoting a supportive school environment.

The group also discussed the balance between school and home values, noting the importance of supporting learning at home. While the focus on reading and literacy was praised, parents highlighted the importance of continuing to encourage excellence in math, and shared ideas for making the subject even more engaging and enjoyable for students. They emphasized the value of making math a fun and interactive learning experience.

The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with participants expressing excitement about the collaborative nature of the School Council and its potential to positively impact the entire ISG Jubail community.
