ISG Jubail Innovation Challenge

Written by an ISG Jubail student in Grade 9.

This year, our students embarked on an extraordinary journey of entrepreneurship and innovation, creating business ideas that could change the world, thanks to an exciting collaboration with 8BillionIdeas, a UK-based business dedicated to fostering creativity and entrepreneurial spirit among young minds.

The highlight of this year’s Week Without Walls (WOW Week) was the 3-day Entrepreneurship Innovation Challenge, spearheaded by 8BillionIdeas in collaboration with ISG. This competition, known as the ISG Innovation Challenge, engaged students from across ASD, BSD, ISG Dammam and ISG Jubail in exploring the dynamic world of entrepreneurship and the art of starting a successful business. Providing students with the opportunity to solve a real-world problem and create their own start-up companies, through a mission of creating a world-class business within three days that solves a problem for its customers.

Winners

The event culminated on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, with the announcement of the winners from ISG Jubail, who truly exemplified the spirit of innovation and collaboration.

In the Middle School Category:

Fit Track: An app that promotes fitness in the younger audience through video games and health tracking.
EdU: A creative way for students to engage with education by choosing their style of teaching, class timings and their teachers.

In the High School Category:

KQVR: A virtual reality device that brings complex topics for students to life through just a lens, focusing on promoting education accessibility for visual learners.
Ozzz: A student sleep tool with noise cancellation, hypoallergenic eye masks and meditative modes.

Our winners showcased remarkable dedication, entrepreneurial prowess and most importantly, spectacular presentation skills.

A winning student from Ozzz quotes, “The experience 8billionIdeas provided to us was very interesting and it allowed me to learn lots about presenting and working with people you don't know. I thank the school and the district for this opportunity. It was a fun week.”

Inspired by the ISG mission of inspiring innovation and compassionate action, the facilitators from 8BillionIdeas provided invaluable guidance to our students throughout the process. From the ideation phase, understanding what makes a successful entrepreneur, meeting their first customers and conceptualizing their prototypes and pitches, students developed essential entrepreneurship skills and characteristics while also learning the importance of collaboration and teamwork in bringing their ideas to fruition.

The journey did not end with the selection of winners from each school. On the fourth day, Wednesday, February 21, students came together from all four schools to compete for the titles of the best overall project, most innovative project and most compassionate project. It was a testament to the creativity, passion and dedication of our students, who continue to inspire us with their incredible talents and ideas.

As we reflect on this remarkable week, let us celebrate the achievements of our students and the boundless possibilities that lie ahead as they continue to innovate, create and make a positive impact on the world around them.

Here’s to a WOW Week filled with inspiration, innovation and endless potential.
