Throughout the year, the high school and middle school Compassion Clubs have met with compassion educator Ivy Yang to learn how to exercise compassion for yourself and others.
The clubs were challenged to develop a compassionate action plan, with specific activities and projects they could implement in their school to help foster compassion within the student body.
Our compassion clubs presented their projects at a conference at the Aziziyah campus on Sunday, June 2. Teams of students from across the district, all committed to creating specific and actionable ways to increase compassion in our community, gathered to share what they have implemented over the last few months.
ISG Dammam middle school students shared how they spread kindness through words of affirmation delivered throughout the community. They also shared how they practiced mindful Monday, working on building compassion for themselves through mindfulness practices. The middle and high school also collaborated on building and decorating Friendship Benches to create a beautiful reminder and physical space where friendship and kindness can be nurtured.
The high school Compassion Club also made bird feeders as part of their project to show compassion and strengthen understanding of our environment. Their final project of the year is creating a gratitude tree to demonstrate our school-wide commitment to expressing gratitude for ourselves and others.
In the spirit of gratitude, we are so grateful for our compassion club advisors, Ms. Neena Bali and Ms. Analidel Souza, who have helped the students develop their action plans and put them into place on campus.
