ISG Dammam Literacy’ Workshops

On December 7th, teachers at ISG Dammam held a literacy session “Empowering Readers and Writers: A Reading and Writing Workshop Model for Grades K-9”. The event was dedicated to the unique aspects of the readers’ and writers’ workshops, and how they differ from traditional teaching methods.

Thirty-five parents attended and listened as teachers discussed the benefits of the approaches and common challenges parents might face while helping their children learn at home.  Teachers also provided valuable resources to support students’ reading and writing development. The goal of the workshop model is to develop love for reading and writing among the ISG Dammam students.

The workshop model combines one-on-one instruction, group instruction and independent work with a variety of opportunities for students to showcase what they are learning.  Students get both formative and summative assessments, allowing for a unique, personalized learning experience for each student.

Parental engagement and support are crucial to our students' educational journey and we appreciate the time parents dedicated to attend the event. We would also like to thank our teachers for their commitment and expertise, and their evident contribution to the event’s success.

Two follow-up sessions are scheduled for January. These sessions will be tailored specifically to the needs of our students, with one session focused on elementary school and the other on middle and high school.
