Creating Habitat: ISG Dammam Enhances Wildlife Engagement with New Bird Feeders

Bird feeders were recently installed around the campus as part of a collaborative initiative with the high school Compassion Club, Eco Club and Science Club.

Students from the Compassion Club applied what they have been learning about community building and came up with the idea of making homemade bird feeders.

The students in the Compassion Club were eager to engage more students in the project, and reached out to the Eco Club to help them source the recycled material to make the bird feeders. Students decorated the bird feeders, using bright, cheerful colors to create feeders that aren’t just functional but a beautiful addition to the campus.

The Science Club members will observe the bird feeders and take pictures of the birds that come to feed.  They will then research the birds they observe and create posters with interesting and relevant information.  These posters will be displayed near the bird feeders to help the entire community learn about and engage with the wildlife indigenous to the Eastern Province.

Compassion Club members learned that when the community comes together on a project, it helps to create lasting impact and investment. The bird feeders will be maintained by the Compassion Club members, and students plan to continue the project throughout the next school year.
