Asim Bukhari

Asim Bukhari is currently working as the Chief Operations Officer for Ingress Group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He also sits on the board of the United Safety Council which is a non-profit Federal institution for Workers rights and Safety Education for the state of Florida in the US.

Which school did you attend at ISG?

I attended three ISG schools: in Ras Tanura, Dammam and Dhahran. I studied there for 11 wonderful years until 1999. That is when I left ISG.

Do you think your experience at ISG schools was special? If so, why?

Our teachers were very special. The amount of care that they gave to us, students, was incredible. That is something that resonates with me to this day.

Did the schools give you a good jump start in your life?

A good school gives you a foundation for mental development and curates the thought process that one follows once they are adults. The school helped me develop my sense of imagination and wonder and made me believe that I can do anything that I put my mind to. This ability has helped me immensely in life and in my professional career. The time I spent in ISG schools is one of the most cherished memories I have so far in my life.

What are you most proud of from your school experience?

We had a Speak out event in which a chosen class representative from each grade was to give a speech about our favorite topic to the whole school at the courtyard along with the teachers and management of the school. I was chosen to represent my class after auditions. I gave a speech about Nelson Mandela and how he inspired me and the world. This was probably one of my proudest moments during my time at ISG.

What is something at your school that you absolutely loved being a part of?

There are many things that come to mind, but something that stands out is the fact that the school was leaps and bounds ahead in terms of technology. We were using Apple Macs back in 1990s. We also enjoyed the state of the art facilities we had and the access to the best textbooks.

How did you make the decision to return to Saudi Arabia for work?

An opportunity presented itself and thus I decided to come back for a year or two… it has been 10 years and I haven’t left, ha-ha.

What is your advice to the current students enrolled at ISG schools?

My advice for the current students at ISG schools would be to cherish and absorb as much as they can at this tender age. This is when the brain is like a soft sponge and can absorb vast amounts of knowledge. And they have all the tools required as the institution of ISG caters for their well-being and gives them the freedom to imagine, explore and create. Also not to be fearful of what the future holds, they should always remember that life is what they make of it.
